Mark Felix again everyone with another edition of Advanced Backlink Building Techniques for Search Engine Optimization and although the subject of building backlinks has been covered so many times, I’ve got a little gem of mine that you might find interesting. Before we get started let me just share a few things with you first, while it’s true that organic search results is the cheapest way of getting traffic to your site as opposed to PPC (Pay Per Click) it does cost money to optimise your site if you truly want to get top ranking in a competitive market.
A few years ago I use to work for a company that had 80% of its business coming from the internet and just upgrading the company’s website might have cost somewhere in the region of £10,000 that covered the upgrade including the optimization and everything else.
Now unless you’re a rich webmaster I don’t know how you’re going to compete with these companies but it can be done, with a little bit of creativity and know how it can be done. I remember clearly when I was just starting out in the world of SEO and tried to introduce ideas that were trending at the time on;

• Press Releases
• Article Writing
My Boss said to me and I remember clearly that the company was a professional company and that we had to be very careful not to add or do things that could cause damage to the brand. That’s when I realised that I had to start building my sites so that I could practise my ideas.
Now don’t get me wrong, I truly understood exactly what he meant but I also thought he was being a little too conservative and looking back I was right because the company has done most the suggestions I was recommending.
Ok, let’s get back to the subject at hand “Advanced Backlink Building Techniques For Search Engine Optimization” In 2005 I started off with my very first website and just as I mentioned above I started implementing the ideas I was getting from blogs and articles I was reading.
One of the ideas that really caught my attention was press releases, I remember how quickly my site went from no PR (Page Rank)to 5 in a matter of weeks, I also remember how my rankings started to sore through my niche competing with sites that were a lot more stable than mine.
You see back then, there were many free press release sites but if you decided to pay for your distribution it was not as expensive as it is now although with the packages being offered now it might seem better value for money and if you were able to write your own releases like I was you could have saved a bundle.
Now don’t misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with paying for someone or a company to write your press release for you or your company, as a matter of fact I recommend it. A good press release can change everything for you and your business, I’ve been there and I know.
So, suddenly I’ve started discussing press releases and you must be asking where is this article going? Well, this is the little gem I mentioned earlier and I also spoke about the cost of getting better ranking in the organic searches, so now let’s discuss it in detail.
As a person who does lots of press releases I have seen many changes over the years but one thing is for certain, a good press release can get more results in traffic and backlinks than you would imagine.
While there are free sites that will get your release into Google and Bing news, Yahoo is a bit difficult there is much more that you can benefit from with a little budget.
When I write a release I am mostly interested in two things, traffic to the site mentioned in the release and backlinks, but some of the really good press release sites will want you to pay for backlinks which is fine but you need more than just that one or two backlinks on that page.
You see, some of these press release sites also have a syndication network in the thousands which means that if you’ve written a good press release and paid to have it distributed with your backlinks included you can get thousands of backlinks to your site with a surge in traffic.
Not only that, some of the syndicated sites that will carry your release also has high PR (Page Rank) which in turn will increase your PR. So if you really want to give your site a jolt, try press release and pay for the extra exposure it’s worth it.
