Hey Folks, it’s me again with another edition of advance search engine optimization Before I get started let me just say how overwhelmed I’ve been with the responses from my last article “Renaming Black Hat SEO – Advance Search Engine Optimization” I think I’ve just had my fifteen minutes of fame to say the least, some of the comments really blew me away.
In one of the comments I read, someone suggested that Google should be monitoring people like me because I’m a bad influence, Oh My, silly me I didn’t even attach my name to the article I could have been a Guru by now. Get A Life…
Anyway let’s get down to business.
Recently I attended an SEO conference, nothing high tech as a matter of fact, it came across more as a beginners guide, but it had been a while since I attended anything of the sort and thought it would be good to get out for a change.
However, I was amazed at how far I’ve been left behind. Most of the people in attendance seem be using hand held devices to check emails and sorts and here I was still carrying around my laptop.
Well I’m glad I did. When I started writing about Advance SEO, I promise not to mention any techniques (not that I know of any) or try to influence people in any way, but in this article I am going to break that promise.
At lunch break while at the SEO conference I had to sit to work on my laptop at the back of the room, but towards the back of me were two guys standing against the wall chatting, these two guys were discussing my kind of subject, Advance SEO and I tried not to let on that I was deeply involved in that conversation, but I was.
So here it is.
One of the gentlemen in question was saying that he was working on a script, sort of like a virus but it would not cause any harm to a computer, the idea was for the script to get into any web browser and change the preferences and instead of showing top ten it would show top twenty.
He went on to say that he had done a small study and found out that 75% or more people with computers don’t know how to change preference in their browser, so if the script did change the preference most likely it would stay that way.
Brilliant!!!
In justifying the reason he mentioned that it would give people more options to choose from ten to twenty and those people who usually click over to the second page for more results would have no need to do so.
Now that is Advance SEO thinking.
One of the challenges that the gentleman faced was how to market his idea and get paid for it, now I’m not sure how he would go about solving his challenge, but I am certain the lots of webmasters stuck on the second page would welcome the idea.
Now those of you who read my last article would remember me saying that Advance SEO is not about spamming and doing all those crazy things that stupid people do, Advance SEO is about thinking out of the box.
What can you do to give you an edge over your competitors without raising any suspicion and believe it or not loads of folks are doing just that.
Take a moment to think about this. Millions of sites focusing on let’s say “Internet Marketing” but only ten sites will show up in the first page of the organic search, you and I know that to get a decent share of the search results you need to be in the top ten, first page or maybe you’ve got a large budget and can afford PPC and even then the cost for such a competitive phrase will deplete your budget in no time.
So what’s the solution? Advance SEO
If you continue to do what you’ve always done, you’re not going to move up in the search engines, you need to find an edge. Everyone knows the basics, onsite optimization, off site optimization, what’s next?
SEO companies that offer top SEO services has an edge that they use on their clients sites, to some degree they have to have an edge, it’s the only way they’re going to stay in business, it could be a 100 sites with a PR of ten that they use to give backlinks or maybe they know someone on the inside (just kidding) or maybe their years of trial and error has made them experts in the field, either way they need an edge.
So how do you get an edge? Well in my short time of studying Advance SEO I have realize that it’s a good practice to read everything you can on the subject and also watching SEO or internet marketing videos is a good way of finding ideas, now trust me there are loads of idiots out there, people who absolutely have no clue what they’re talking about, so you would need to dismiss them quickly, but when you find one that interest you, take the time to analyze the subject and see whether or not you can put your own spin on it.
Have you notice that when a good SEO idea hit the internet, within a short time it’s no-longer effective? Chances are the idea was probably around for a while doing exactly what was intended, but then somehow someone thought that there’s lots of money to be made by selling the idea or software, suddenly every Tom, Dick and Harry is doing the same thing which raises alarm bells and search engines start adjusting their algorithms.
Well I’m going to stop now but I hope I’ve triggered the genius in you, the one that makes you think of the possibilities, remember it’s not about doing stupid stuff, you know what those are, it’s about gaining an edge.
People call things they know Black Hat, but things they know nothing about that gets results is Advance SEO.
